About the role The Automotive Quality Systems Manager owns and leads our quality and environmental management system. You'll carry end to end responsibility for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, lead the transition to IATF 16949, and coordinate Automotive SPICE readiness alongside our Engineering and Software teams. You'll own customer and supplier quality relationships, run the audit program, and set the root cause and corrective action discipline that keeps escapes out of our customers' hands.
If you like being the go-to for quality across an entire business, this is your kind of role.
What you'll own
- Certification and systems.
You'll maintain the ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 14001 EMS across both divisions; documentation, risk registers, objectives, KPIs and management reviews. You'll lead IATF 16949 broader global transition from gap analysis through to certification, and coordinate Automotive SPICE readiness with Engineering, Software and Systems.
- Product and launch quality. You'll coordinate PPAP and APQP submissions and quality planning across Engineering, Production and suppliers, owning final review and approval. You'll drive quality into new product launches so issues are caught at the design and launch stage, not after they reach the customer.
- Issue resolution and compliance. You'll manage nonconformances and corrective actions with real root cause and closure discipline (NCR, CAPA and 8D), run the Defective Material Report process end to end, and own IMDS submissions and ELV, RoHS and REACH material compliance.
- Customer and supplier quality. You'll manage supplier performance, audits and corrective actions, handle customer complaints and quality relationships, including OEM DMR processes, and keep customer quality scorecards trending the right way.
What you'll bring You've done automotive quality for real, and you can prove it. Specifically, you'll bring:
- Hands on experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems
- IATF 16949 implementation or maintenance experience
- Fluency in the automotive core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and SPC
- Exposure to Automotive SPICE and system or software development processes
- A strong audit background across internal, process, product, supplier and external audits
- IMDS and automotive material compliance know-how
- NCR, CAPA, 8D and root cause analysis discipline
- Customer and supplier quality management experience
- A track record working to automotive OEM or Tier 1 customer requirements
- The communication skills and gravitas to align cross functional teams and engage customers and certification bodies with equal confidence
How we'll know you're winning
- ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 maintained with zero major nonconformances at audit
- IATF 16949 transition delivered on roadmap and certification achieved on time
- PPAP submissions approved first time, and launches hitting quality milestones
- NCRs and DMRs closed within customer timeframes, with recurrence trending down
- IMDS submissions accepted first time, with no compliance gaps in audits
- A clear downward trend in scrap, rework and cost of poor quality
- Customer complaints down, supplier defects down, and audits passed with no critical findings
