ABOUT LANDCARE NSW

Landcare NSW Limited is the peak body for community Landcare in NSW. The primary purpose of the organisation is to serve as a ‘resource advocate’ to ensure that the thousands of Landcarers in NSW have all they need to care for our land, workplace, and communities.

Landcare NSW is responsible for providing leadership, representing, supporting, strengthening and growing the community Landcare movement in NSW to improve the health of our natural and working landscapes. Our structures, activities and operations meet legal requirements, have probity, are transparent and accountable. Landcare NSW strives to meet best practice in everything it does.

The organisation is a company limited by guarantee, a charity registered with ACNC with DGR status, and governed by an independent board composed of between seven and ten Directors, elected by Landcare NSW member groups and appointed by the Board for three-year terms.

ABOUT THE POSITION The Board oversees Landcare NSW’s strategic direction and provides governance leadership for the organisation. As a Director, you will work with fellow Board members to support Landcare NSW’s objectives and purpose, and help ensure the organisation operates ethically, transparently and in a socially responsible way. This includes maintaining high standards of governance for a not-for-profit organisation.

Directors are expected to attend up to eight Board meetings each year. Directors may also be invited to join Board committees, which meet in parallel with Board meetings. Meetings are held through a combination of in-person and online formats, with at least two meetings per year held in-person either in/near Sydney or a regional location.

This is primarily a voluntary role. Reasonable out-of-pocket travel costs will be covered, and a sitting fee for formal Board meetings may be offered subject to budget approval and affordability.

ABOUT YOU To complement the Board’s existing mix of experience, Landcare NSW is particularly interested in nominations from people with one or more of the following skills and backgrounds:

1. Strong financial experience
2. Governance qualifications or demonstrated governance experience
3. Experience in strategic leadership roles
4. Experience in government or political environments
5. Philanthropic and fundraising experience
6. Human resources or organisational culture experience

Experience in these areas will help strengthen the Board’s governance, advocacy, financial oversight and support for the community Landcare movement across NSW.

Landcare NSW is committed to ensuring its Board reflects the diversity of Landcare NSW members and communities across the state. People from diverse backgrounds, regions and experiences are encouraged to nominate.
