We are looking for a philanthropic extraordinaire for a position on our Board as a Board Director (Voluntary). ABOUT BE THERE FOUNDATION Be There Foundation is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) charity supporting people impacted by domestic and family violence. We provide practical assistance, advocacy and access to essential services so people can rebuild in safety and with dignity.
We work alongside local partners and community stakeholders to strengthen the support around victim-survivors. We hold ourselves to compassion, accountability and collaboration.
ABOUT THE ROLE The Board Director (Philanthropy) leads our fundraising and philanthropic strategy. You will shape how we raise money, and how we look after the people who give it. WHAT YOU WOULD DO Build and hold relationships with donors, sponsors and corporate partners
Shape the fundraising calendar and lead our community events
Find grants worth going after, and get the applications in
Turn one-off givers into people who stay with us for years
Prepare proposals and impact reports, and represent the Foundation at events
Work with the board on revenue targets, fundraising risk and long-term strategy, and take part in governance as a director WHO YOU MIGHT BE You are comfortable making the ask. You understand that inviting someone to fund a safety watch, a room for the night or legal advice for a woman is a gift to them as much as it is to us. You might come from fundraising, philanthropy, partnerships, sales or events.
You might simply be someone with a valuable network and the nerve to use it for something that matters. WHAT WOULD HELP Experience raising money, in any setting, and a feel for what moves people to give An understanding of donor stewardship, major gifts, corporate partnerships or community fundraising
Comfort with numbers. Reading a budget, setting a target, knowing whether a campaign worked
Strong relationship and negotiation skills across donors, stakeholders and community partners
Some grounding in governance, or the appetite to learn it. Charity regulation, DGR requirements and director duties can be taught A commitment to trauma-informed and inclusive practice, and to the people we serve
Not-for-profit or board experience is welcome. Tertiary study in business, philanthropy, social impact or communications is welcome too. Neither is required.
