MJD Recruitment are partnering with a growing international agricultural e-commerce business to appoint a Business Operations Manager / Commercial Operations Lead for its Australian operation.

This is a newly created position with genuine breadth, influence and long-term potential. Working closely with the founders, you will become the operational backbone of the Australian business - bringing alignment across its people, customers, processes and commercial priorities while helping drive sustainable and profitable growth.

This is not a role for someone who wants to remain within a neatly defined lane. You’ll need to be equally comfortable developing the team, improving a process, reviewing commercial performance, supporting sales activity or building relationships within the broader market.

The Role

Acting as the central point across the Australian operation, you will maintain visibility over the entire business and ensure its different functions are working cohesively.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Australian business
- Partnering with the founders to execute the organisation’s commercial growth strategy
- Supporting sales performance and identifying new opportunities for profitable expansion
- Building relationships and strategic partnerships across the agricultural and e-commerce markets
- Providing oversight across customer service, marketing, operations, inventory, purchasing, supply chain and external finance partners
- Creating greater structure, accountability and alignment across business priorities
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and scalability
- Coaching and developing employees while helping shape a collaborative, high-performing culture




- Building the operational foundations required to support the company’s continued growth

You won’t need to be the technical expert in every function. Your value will come from knowing which questions to ask, holding people accountable and ensuring the right priorities continue moving forward.

About You

You will be a commercially curious and highly organised leader who is excited by the opportunity to help build a business—not simply maintain an established operation.

You’ll ideally bring:

- Experience within business operations, commercial operations or broader general management
- Exposure to an e-commerce, start-up, high-growth or founder-led environment
- Strong commercial acumen and a genuine interest in sales and business growth
- The ability to work effectively across multiple functions and competing priorities
- Practical people leadership, coaching and culture-building capability
- A hands-on, adaptable approach and willingness to get involved wherever required
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- The confidence to introduce structure, challenge thinking and drive accountability

Experience within agriculture, rural industries or an adjacent market would be highly regarded but is not essential. The right leadership capability, commercial mindset and appetite to learn will be more key. What’s on Offer?
