This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata'd to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under theNSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.
This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (Until August 2027)
Position Classification: Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2
Remuneration : $128,301.89 - $132,523.13 + Superannuation
Hours Per Week: 38

What you'll be doing
The Primary Health Care Schools Based Nurse Program works closely with host schools, children, young adults, families, external organisations and social care providers to promote healthy behaviours, enhance health literacy, prevent and reduce the risk and impact of poor health and disease in a manner which is responsive and respectful to individuals, their families, school communities and other agencies.

What you'll be doing

The Primary Health Care School Based Nurse Program is responsible for facilitating identification of health, wellbeing and social needs and the coordination of appropriate early intervention, assessments, and referral to services for school-aged children and young people attending designated primary and secondary schools within the FWLHD.

About Broken Hill

- Current Registered Nurse Division 1 National Registration (AHPRA) with a minimum of 3 years post registration clinical experience working with children and young people, a post registration qualification related to the specialty area of child and family health, or paediatrics, or adolescent / youth health nursing practice, Primary Health Care (child and family health) or other related area or willing to obtain qualifications within six months.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with children and young people, including marginalised and at-risk groups, and health promotion, prevention and early intervention approaches and evidence based practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of primary health care practice, specifically within rural and remote Australian context.
- Demonstrated ability to work within an interagency context, with an emphasis on relationship building, service delivery, quality of care and team cohesion, referrals and an ability to identify and improve opportunities to enhance integration of care for children, young people and families.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including advanced verbal and written skills; an ability to negotiate and problem solve; and the capacity to collaborate with and influence health and other professionals.
