Employment type: Ongoing, Full Time

Salary: $97,285 pa + Incidental Allowance + Leave Loading + Superannuation

Your Role

Turn your trade experience into leadership that changes lives. Are you an experienced trade professional ready for your next challenge? Macquarie Correctional Centre is seeking a motivated and capable Trade Overseers to lead Grounds Maintenance operations while developing practical trade skills and work readiness among inmates to support successful reintegration into the community. This is more than a traditional horticulture or grounds maintenance role. You'll combine your trade expertise in horticulture, greenkeeping, or parks and gardens with leadership, mentoring, and operational delivery in a unique environment where your work has a genuine impact every day. Working alongside and guiding inmate work crews, you'll help develop practical skills, promote safe work practices, and contribute to the maintenance and presentation of the centre's grounds and landscaped areas. This is an opportunity to use your trade skills to achieve operational outcomes while making a positive difference through coaching and rehabilitation.

Key Accountabilities

- Supervise, coach and support inmates to develop workplace skills, improve post-release employment opportunities and contribute to reduced re-offending outcomes
- Demonstrate and promote professional values, including integrity, accountability and ethical conduct aligned with CSI and organisational standards
- Support business unit operations through the delivery of inmate training programs, including Inmate Traineeships, and contribute to case management outcomes through the Work Readiness Program
- Manage resources effectively and maintain a safe and compliant work workplace in accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation





The Successful candidates are provided with paid training to undertake Certificate III in Correctional Practice at an allocated Corrective Services Academy training facility.

Qualifications Required

- Certificate III (minimum) in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture (Parks and Gardens or Landscaping), or another relevant trade qualification. Trade qualifications in construction-related disciplines may also be considered where relevant to the role.
- Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or willing to obtain within 12 Months
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role

Essential Requirements

- Proven post trade experience
- Experience which demonstrates the ability to meet the key accountabilities and focus capabilities as detailed in the role description
- Ability and willingness to work across varying trades as required
