T he Role
We're looking for an experienced process or chemical engineer to lead the development of technical requirements and design specifications for future Defence explosive ordnance disposal and demilitarisation capability. This includes confined burn and confined detonation systems, demilitarisation facilities and pollution abatement systems.
You'll play a key role in shaping how these capabilities are engineered — running options analysis, defining performance parameters, and working closely with Defence, industry and regulators to get the technical detail right.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of technical requirements and preliminary design specifications for future disposal and demilitarisation capability
- Conduct engineering trade studies and options analysis, defining key performance parameters
- Provide process engineering expertise across thermal treatment, combustion and emissions/pollution abatement systems
- Support process safety assessments for hazardous facilities, including HAZOP/HAZID risk reviews
- Engage with Defence, industry,
regulators and environmental authorities on technical matters
Required
- Chemical Degree-qualified engineer with a minimum of 8 years' relevant chemical or process engineering experience
- Experience in Thermal treatment systems combustion systems, industrial waste treatment
- emissions management and pollution abatement systems
- Experience with thermal treatment/combustion systems, industrial waste treatment and pollution abatement
- Experience in hazardous process facility safety, including HAZOP/HAZID risk assessment
- Knowledge of explosive ordnance and munitions processing/demilitarisation, with strong stakeholder engagement skills
- INCOSE Systems Engineering certification (desirable)
