This is a unique opportunity to lead a respected medical research charity. The Baird Institute is Australia’s only independent medical research institute dedicated to cardiothoracic surgical research. Through its partnerships with Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney, the Institute supports innovative research that aims to improve treatments and outcomes for people living with heart disease.
The Institute is seeking an inspiring and entrepreneurial Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next phase of growth. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will build on a strong foundation of research excellence, philanthropic success and trusted partnerships. This is a highly relationship-driven leadership role, with philanthropy and fundraising at its core.
The CEO will be responsible for strengthening and expanding the Institute’s philanthropic partnerships, building meaningful relationships with major donors, trusts, foundations and corporate supporters, and ensuring that fundraising success continues to translate into research impact. The role will also provide strategic leadership across governance, finance, communications and stakeholder engagement, working closely with the Board, researchers, clinicians and academic partners.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced fundraising leader seeking their first CEO appointment, or an established not-for-profit leader who values the opportunity to make a significant personal impact within a small, agile and highly respected organisation. About you
You will be an authentic and inspiring leader with a proven track record in philanthropy, fundraising, relationship development and revenue growth in the not-for-profit sector. You will bring: Demonstrated success in building meaningful relationships with donors, partners, supporters or stakeholders The ability to inspire confidence and engagement across various stakeholders
Strategic thinking combined with a practical, hands-on approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to tell compelling stories about impact
Experience leading teams, programs or organisations in a values-driven environment
