Role Description This part-time on-site Respiratory Scientist role is based in the beautiful coastal Hervey Bay, QLD region and involves performing lung function tests in accordance with laboratory protocols and accreditation standards. The Scientist will conduct patient assessments, operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, and ensure accurate data collection and analysis. Daily responsibilities include preparing test environments, equipment calibrations, explaining procedures to patients, monitoring test performance, and reporting results, which are validated by the physician.
The role also includes collaborating with respiratory physicians and other healthcare professionals, participating in quality control and supporting ongoing improvements in laboratory processes and patient experience. Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualification in science, respiratory physiology, biomedical science, or a related discipline.
Experience or training in clinical measurement, lung function testing, skin prick testing, 6mwt testing or related laboratory procedures.
Experience in medical administration is also highly desirably
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work compassionately with patients and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated ability to follow clinical and laboratory protocols, uphold safety and infection control standards, and maintain equipment and calibration records.
Proficiency with computer-based data entry and reporting systems; familiarity with healthcare or laboratory information systems is an advantage.
Ability to manage time and workload effectively in a busy clinical environment, including versatile response to changing priorities.
Registration or eligibility for membership with relevant professional bodies and prior experience in an accredited laboratory are highly desirable.
