This is an opportunity to join a leading Melbourne-based local council that is on a technology transformation journey, focused on strengthening digital capability, modernising core services, and delivering better outcomes for its staff and community.

Your new role:

As the Senior Cloud Automation Engineer , you will play a key role in uplifting the organisation’s secure and effective use of cloud services. This is a senior technical role where you will help lead the improvement of current cloud deployments and support future ways of leveraging cloud and automation solutions.

You will work closely with architecture, cybersecurity, project teams, and third-party solution providers to guide solution designs, develop detailed cloud and automation designs, and lead the implementation of solutions with an automation-first mindset.

Key responsibilities will include

- Supporting the delivery of cloud and automation capabilities across complex technology environments.
- Leading implementation activities across cloud, automation, infrastructure, and security-related solutions.
- Working with architecture and cybersecurity teams to ensure cloud solutions align with standards, controls, guardrails, and design principles.
- Providing technical thought leadership and acting as a senior technical advisor to support program delivery.
- Mentoring and guiding technical staff as new solutions and ways of working are introduced.
- Building strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to support collaboration and successful delivery outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed: To be successful in this role, you will bring strong hands-on cloud engineering experience,



with the ability to contribute to future direction, implement new capabilities, remediate existing deployments, and support broader team uplift. You will also have:

- AWS certifications or equivalent experience.
- Experience engineering and managing complex cloud deployments.
- Strong program delivery experience as a senior technical implementer.
- Strong technical expertise across cloud, automation, security, infrastructure, and networks.
- Experience across AWS and/or Azure, including IaaS, PaaS, serverless, and containers.
- Experience with orchestration and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD tooling such as BitBucket and ArgoCD.
- Knowledge of Microsoft platforms and ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts such as VPN, DNS, load balancing, and cloud security best practices.
- Proven experience working with cybersecurity standards and practices to support secure and resilient cloud environments.
- You will be confident engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
