The Role The primary purpose of the Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at the Forensic Hospital is to provide support in the delivery of high-quality mental health care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).

The role is limited to delegated activities appropriate to their level of knowledge and skill and is commensurate with their education and experience. The AIN role involves conducting direct care activities as outlined in the nursing care plan, contributing to accurate health care documentation,



and maintaining effective communication with both patients and the health care team. Staff members are required to embody the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment, ensuring a culture of safety and support within the hospital.

Additionally, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (JHFMHN) is essential for compliance and quality of care. Essential Requirements: Currently undertaking and has completed one or more years of a nursing degree and-or be at Certificate III level of the Australian Qualifications Framework using the national competency standards from the Community Services (e.g, Certificate III in Health Services Assistance from TAFE NSW). The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in Recent South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW. This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional and high-risk civil patients.

A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health professionals are dedicated to providing a care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care.

- A mandatory and comprehensive two-week, full-time orientation is provided for all new staff at Forensic Hospital.
