Elevate Your Teaching Journey with the Knox Grammar School Teacher Internship Program
Over the past three years, we have successfully run our Senior School Teacher Internship Program, and due to its positive impact, we are excited to welcome new candidates to apply to be part of the 2027 cohort. With dedicated staff members who mentor our interns and tailor the program to meet their individual needs, we ensure a supportive and customised experience.
Our school prides itself on strong academic results, teacher and student well-being, innovative teaching practices, and a commitment to holistic student development through Co-Curricular and pastoral care programs.
At Knox, professional development is more than a priority—it's a cornerstone of our culture. We are excited to invite final-year students of a Bachelor of Education or Master of Education program to join our expanded Teacher Internship Program in 2027. Our program provides a unique, paid opportunity to transition from student to educator while being mentored by experienced teachers in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Why Choose Knox Grammar's Internship Program?
- Real-World Experience: You will work alongside experienced educators and engage directly with students, gaining practical, hands-on teaching experience in a supportive setting.
- Flexibility for Your Schedule: We offer the flexibility to choose the day that works best for you, ensuring the program fits seamlessly into your study and personal commitments.
- Mentorship and Growth opportunities: Throughout the internship, you will receive one-on-one guidance from the Director of Teaching and Learning and work with a mentor teacher to enhance your teaching skills and professional knowledge.
- A Paid Internship with Opportunities for Employment: Unlike other programs, this internship is a paid opportunity, recognising the challenges faced by final-year students. Many of our interns successfully transition into full-time teaching roles within the school after completing their internships.
- Continuous experience over a year : The internship occurs one day per week, and the intern can choose the day that suits them best. Students are also encouraged to do at least one practicum with us during the internship year. We have found students benefit from this ongoing relationship with the same classes and teachers over the course of a year.
- Contribute to School Life: Interns will have the opportunity to be involved in the academic, Co-Curricular, camping, boarding and pastoral care programs, enhancing their teaching practice while contributing to the Knox community.
- Scope for casual employment during the internship : Interns often are employed during their internship year as Casual Teachers in the day school or Evening Boarding Tutors in the boarding house.
