About the Role

Lofty Building Group is an established South Australian builder delivering high-quality projects across residential and commercial projects.

As our commercial portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Commercial Project / Site Manager to join our team.

You'll be responsible for the successful delivery of projects from commencement through to handover, combining the strategic responsibilities of a Project Manager with the on-site leadership of a Site Supervisor.

Our projects include Childcare Centres, Bulky Goods Warehouses, Industrial Developments, Mixed Use Retail & Commercial Developments.

Reporting into the Leadership team and supported by a Commercial Construction Administrator, you will take ownership of multiple commercial projects from planning through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

As the Commercial Project & Site Manager, you'll take ownership of the entire project lifecycle, balancing strategic project management with hands-on site leadership.

Project Management

- Manage commercial construction projects from commencement through to practical completion and final handover.
- Review all architectural, structural, civil and engineering documentation prior to construction.
- Identify design conflicts, discrepancies or documentation issues and proactively liaise with architects, engineers and consultants to resolve them.
- Develop and manage construction programmes to ensure projects are delivered on time.
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, procurement and cost control.
- Prepare and negotiate subcontract packages and supplier agreements.
- Administer construction contracts, RFIs, variations and project documentation.
- Liaise with councils, certifiers and regulatory authorities regarding approvals, compliance and Certificates of Occupancy (COO).
- Work closely with the Contract Administrator by providing technical advice and construction knowledge throughout the project.




- Support the Finance team with timely progress claims and project reporting.
- Lead project meetings with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key project stakeholders.
- Identify project risks early and implement practical solutions to minimise delays and additional costs.

Site Leadership

- Conduct daily site inspections and maintain accurate site diaries.
- Lead weekly toolbox meetings and promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure all subcontractors are inducted and comply with site safety requirements.
- Maintain site amenities and ensure all sites are clean, compliant and professionally presented.
- Coordinate and manage all site-specific WHS, environmental and project risks.
- Monitor construction quality and programme through regular site inspections.
- Coordinate inspections with engineers, certifiers and consultants throughout the construction process, including footing, reinforcement, structural steel and framing inspections.
- Ensure all works comply with the National Construction Code, Australian Standards and project specifications.
- Manage defects throughout construction and drive quality outcomes.
- Coordinate all Certificate of Occupancy requirements through to project completion.
- Manage the Defects Liability Period (DLP), ensuring all maintenance items are completed promptly

About You

- 5+ years' experience delivering commercial construction projects.
- Experience managing projects valued upwards of $3M
- Experience in childcare, industrial, retail or commercial construction
- Excellent knowledge of the National Construction Code
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Current White Card and Driver's Licence mandatory
- Commercial Builders Licence ideal
