Maintenance Fitter / Fitter and Turner (IMMEDIATE START)
Location: Artarmon, Sydney NSW
Start date: 10 August
Hours: 6:00 am–2:00 pm, Monday to Friday
Duration: Approximately 3 months - With the opportunity to be extended and also to become full time.
Employment: 3 month - Casual contract
Rates: Base rates + OT rates + Daily travel
4VOLT Group is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Machine Tool Fitter or Fitter and Turner / Mechanical Engineering Trade for a three-month opportunity at our client’s industrial site in Artarmon.
Our client is an established electrical engineering company specialising in electrical and mechanical services across the industrial sector. This is a hands‑on position involving the maintenance, repair and commissioning of machine tools, production machinery and mechanical equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in industrial machinery
- Service CNC machines, lathes, milling machines and grinders
- Maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and hydraulic systems
- Repair production and packaging machinery
- Replace bearings, shafts, couplings and other worn components
- Perform precision alignment of motors,
shafts and machinery
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and equipment manuals
- Machine or modify replacement parts when required
- Complete preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Assist with machinery installation, testing and commissioning
Requirements
- Australian-recognised mechanical trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Machine Tool Fitter or Fitter and Turner
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Experience working with industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Confidence working independently and as part of a maintenance team
