Located on the beautiful NSW South Coast, Moruya Golf Club is one of the region's leading golf and hospitality venues, offering an outstanding 18-hole championship golf course complemented by modern clubhouse facilities, gaming, dining and functions.
With over 400 golfing members and more than 60,000 rounds played annually, Moruya Golf Club is entering one of the most exciting periods in its history. The Club is currently developing both a comprehensive Golf Course Masterplan and a new Strategic Plan that will guide the future direction of the Club over the coming decade.
After more than 32 years of dedicated service, our highly respected Course Superintendent has advised of his upcoming retirement, creating a rare opportunity for an experienced and passionate golf course professional to build upon an outstanding legacy while helping shape the next chapter of Moruya Golf Club.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful applicant will become a key member of the Club's senior leadership team and play an integral role in delivering the Club's long-term vision for course presentation, infrastructure and continual improvement.
About the Course
Moruya Golf Club is a picturesque 18-hole championship course renowned for its natural beauty, outstanding year-round presentation and enjoyable layout.
The Club is currently developing a comprehensive Golf Course Masterplan in conjunction with industry professionals. Once complete, the Masterplan will guide staged improvements over the coming years and provide a clear vision for the future of the golf course.
Working alongside the General Manager, Board of Directors and consulting specialists, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to help implement future projects including:
- Golf course enhancements and infrastructure upgrades.
- Irrigation improvements and water management initiatives.
- Bunker redevelopment and course refinement.
- Tree management and landscape enhancement.
- Drainage and environmental sustainability projects.
- Machinery and equipment replacement programs.
- Ongoing agronomic improvements.
This is far more than a maintenance role it is an opportunity to influence the future direction of one of regional New South Wales' most progressive golf clubs while maintaining exceptional playing conditions for members and visitors.
The Role The Course Superintendent will be responsible for the overall management, maintenance and continual improvement of the golf course and surrounding grounds.
Working closely with the General Manager, responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring the Course Maintenance Team.
- Delivering exceptional golf course presentation and playing conditions.
- Developing and implementing agronomic programs.
- Irrigation management and water resource planning.
- Budget preparation and financial management.
- Machinery fleet, workshop and equipment management.
- Staff recruitment, training and performance management.
- Workplace Health & Safety compliance.
- Environmental and sustainability initiatives.
- Planning and delivering golf course improvement projects.
- Implementing the Club's Golf Course Masterplan.
- Working collaboratively with the Board, Golf Professional and Golf Operations Team.
About You The successful applicant will be a motivated leader who enjoys developing people, maintaining high standards and driving continual improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Certificate IV, Diploma or higher qualification in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a golf course maintenance environment.
- Excellent warm-season turf management knowledge.
- Experience in toro lynx system.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Sound financial and budget management abilities.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Commitment to Workplace Health & Safety.
Highly Desirable
- Previous experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
- Experience delivering golf course renovation and construction projects.
- Chemical Accreditation.
- Experience operating earthmoving equipment.
- Understanding of golf course architecture and design principles.
- Experience implementing golf course masterplans.
