The Research
Centre manages and provides access to these collections.
The Digitised
Collections team curates, digitises and publishes the Research Centre Digitised Collection, creates and maintains nominal data rolls, and supports the Memorial’s public programs, exhibitions and projects. This position directly supports the Memorial’s major digitisation projects and commitment to collection digitisation.
Under general direction, this position is responsible for image production, quality assurance, and ingestion of images into the Memorial’s Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) contributing to individual and section work targets, and recording accurate workflow statistics. The work involves digital capture of archival records to preservation standards using a range of equipment and performs general maintenance tasks including calibration of image capture equipment. This position is responsible for less complex cataloguing and online release of archival documents utilising the Collection Management Systems (CMS).
The position supports the promotion of the Digitised Collection and undertakes document preparation, collection rehousing and data clean-up as required.
The position also assists with the provision of public access to Research Centre collections by participation in the Reading Room collection access roster. This position may involve handling potentially distressing material.
Core Responsibilities
Contribute to and maintain a positive and productive work workplace
Digital capture of archival records in accordance with preservation standards using a range of equipment and software including Photoshop
Perform image quality control and ingestion into the Memorial’s Digital Assets Management System (DAMS)
Less complex cataloguing of Research Centre collection material using the Memorial’s Collection Management System (CMS)
Meet work targets, keep accurate statistics and perform data clean up as required
Maintain image capture equipment and calibrate as required
Collection movement, preparation, and re-housing as required
Support the promotion of the digitisation program
Additional requirements
Includes rostered hours within the Memorial’s standard ordinary working hours. This position may include the handling of potentially distressing material.
Position Eligibility
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
All applicants external to AWM that are offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a National Police Check, even if they currently hold a security clearance. The check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
