BMI Resource Recovery is a leading resource recovery and recycling provider for construction and demolition waste in Southeast Queensland. As part of the Brisbane-based, privately owned BMI Group, we have over 30 years of experience in multi-site operations and a strong commitment to sustainable waste solutions.

We are seeking an experienced Material Handler Operator to operate Material Handlers fitted with sorting grapples and elevated cabs, machines include a Caterpillar 3022, Liebherr LH24 and Sennebogen 821.

This full-time role involves working closely with a small team to deliver safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible resource recovery services to the construction and demolition industry. You will be operating modern, well-maintained equipment within a supportive team environment.

Hours

Monday to Friday 6am – 4/5pm

Overtime and weekend work opportunities available

Responsibilities

- Safely and efficiently operate material handlers and sorting grapples
- Sort and recover recyclable materials from mixed waste streams
- Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety requirements
- Conduct pre-start checks and complete required documentation
- Maintain equipment in a reliable,



clean, and safe condition, including refueling, greasing, and routine inspections
- Communicate professionally with team members and customers
- Assist with day-to-day operational requirements as needed

About You

- Minimum 2 years' experience operating material handlers in a waste, recycling, scrap metal, quarry, or similar workplace
- Previous experience with elevated cab material handlers and grapples highly regarded
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices
- Plant licences, tickets, or Verification of Competency (VOC) preferred
- Ability to confidently and safely operate material handling equipment
- Experience completing pre-start inspections and maintaining accurate records
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently
