About Role
The SSI Local Area Coordination (LAC) program partners with the National Disability Insurance agency and is committed to improving the lives of all people with disability aged nine and above (including their families and carers where appropriate) in empowering people to facilitate choice and control over their lives.
SSI Group isseekingan experienced and purpose-drivenDisability Strategy and Transformation Manager to lead strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, reform readiness across our Local Area Coordination Program.
About You
Reporting to the Head of Disability, this position requires a dynamic individual with strongexpertisein strategic planning, policy and advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and business growth within the disability sector. The role will work closely with LAC senior leaders and lead the Community Development Specialists to drive strategic initiatives, implement the Disability Growth Strategy, support grant and tender positioning and writing, respond to government inquiries and briefings, and strengthen SSI’s future growth and sector influence.
This is a pivotal leadership role for someone with deep disability sector knowledge, robust strategic planning capability,the ability to influence, engage and drive meaningful transformation, as well as lead external eventsin a complex and evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities for FY :
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving SSI's disability growth, advocacy, and community development agenda through the delivery of the following key priorities:
- Lead a high-performing team of Project Officers and Community Development Specialists.
- Drive the review, refinement, and implementation of the Local Area Coordination (LAC) Business Plan.
- Partner with the Head of Disability Supports to implement SSI's Disability Growth Strategy and associated action plan, supporting service innovation, growth, and sector influence.
- Provide strategic oversight and delivery of the Community Capacity Building PlanProjects, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time and within scope.
- Plan and deliver flagship events, including the National CALD Disability Summit in November 2026, fostering sector leadership, collaboration, and community engagement.
- Lead the execution of a national advocacy and media campaign, incorporating government relations, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, communications, and marketing initiatives.
- Contribute to business growth through the development of competitive tender and grant submissions, including service model design, market analysis, strategic positioning, and the drafting and review of high-quality submission responses.
- Build andmaintainstrong relationships with government, sector partners, community organisations, and people with disability to advance SSI's strategicobjectivesand influence systemic change.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Policy, Social Work) or equivalent experience in the Disability sector.
- Minimum 5 years leadership in a Community/ Human Services Environment
- High level written communication and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience in writing, developing, and implementing strategic plans, growth initiatives, and tender or grant submissions in the disability sector.
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships, lead stakeholder engagement, and liaise across all levels internally, externally, and with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership, project management, program management, and event management skills.
- Experience developing and leading business planning initiatives.
- Ability to assess and manage risk, problem solve and be able to negotiate successful outcomes under challenging circumstances.
- Willingness to travel across all program areas asrequired.
