With a strong pipeline of substation projects, the business is strengthening its design and engineering team to support continued project growth and delivery.

Your New Role

As a Substation Design Manager, you will take ownership of the technical and design delivery of substation projects from early development through to construction, commissioning and energisation.

You will manage external design consultants, review and challenge technical deliverables, resolve design issues and work closely with internal engineering and project teams to ensure projects remain on track.

This role is suited to an Electrical Engineer with strong substation experience who can combine technical expertise with project, consultant and client management.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead HV/EHV substation design delivery from concept through to energisation
- Manage external engineering consultants and design deliverables




- Review designs, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Lead technical discussions with clients, consultants and contractors
- Resolve RFIs, design issues and construction related technical queries
- Support technical specifications and equipment procurement
- Manage design risks, interfaces, programmes and technical issues

Your Experience To succeed in this role, you will bring:

- Electrical engineering degree with strong HV substation experience
- Experience managing 132kV and higher substation design delivery across the project lifecycle
- Robust understanding of HV substation design and technical specifications
- Experience managing external engineering consultants
- Ability to lead client, consultant and contractor meetings
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
