Backed by institutional capital and part of a broader diversified alternative asset management group, this firm has scaled quickly into one of the country's leading private credit players with a national footprint and a genuinely deep pipeline of dealflow across property developers, fund managers, and corporate borrowers.
As they continue to build out their Origination function, we're seeking an experienced Director - Origination to join the team in Sydney, reporting into the newly appointed State Director.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, client-facing role at the front end of the business identifying, structuring, and winning new lending opportunities across the commercial real estate sector. You'll work closely with property developers, CRE fund managers, brokers, and other capital markets stakeholders to originate and structure tailored debt solutions, while collaborating closely with Credit, Risk, and Portfolio Management to see deals through to execution.
The fund currently has over $2bn of AUM and with new global institutional capital partners, we are seeking someone with the energy and relationships to deploy this capital across the mid-market space, typically $20-$80m in size.
This is a genuine opportunity to play a leading role in a platform's continued growth trajectory, with solid visibility to senior leadership and real influence over the shape of the origination strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and structure new lending opportunities across commercial real estate, including developers, fund managers, and other institutional borrowers
- Build and maintain a strong network of brokers, developers, and industry contacts to drive consistent dealflow
- Lead the structuring of funding solutions, including first and second mortgage, mezzanine, and bespoke lending structures for complex transactions
- Present credit recommendations and deal proposals to senior management and Investment Committee
- Work closely with Credit, Risk, Transaction Management and Portfolio Management teams to ensure smooth execution and ongoing portfolio performance
- Represent the firm in market, building its profile and reputation as a leading CRE private credit lender
What You'll Bring
- Significant experience in origination, relationship management, or business development within commercial real estate lending, private credit, or banking
- An established network across developers, brokers, and CRE fund managers
- Strong commercial acumen and a track record of successfully originating and closing complex transactions
- Confident, credible communication skills, with the ability to represent the firm at a senior level
- A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in being part of a platform's ongoing growth story
