Casual Disability Support Worker – SIL & Community Access
Location: Bargara, QLD
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team supporting a young man with complex support needs who lives independently in his own home in Bargara.
This role involves providing 1:1 Supported Independent Living (SIL) and community participation support in a person-centred workplace that promotes independence, dignity, choice, and quality of life.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will work alongside the participant to build independence, develop life skills, and achieve individual goals in both the home and community.
Key responsibilities include
- Supporting daily living skills, including household tasks, budgeting, and personal care.
- Assisting with meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking.
- Facilitating community participation, social engagement, recreational activities, and outings.
- Providing transport and support to appointments, sporting commitments, and community activities.
- Encouraging skill development, confidence, and independence.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and communication with the broader support team.
- Working collaboratively with family members, support coordinators, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders where required.
About You The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience supporting people with intellectual disability, autism, and complex support needs.
- Have experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies and working within Behaviour Support Plans.
- Be confident supporting participants with approved restrictive practices where applicable and in accordance with NDIS requirements.
- Be physically fit and able to actively participate in community-based activities.
- Demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Be reliable, professional, and committed to delivering high-quality support.
Essential Requirements
- Current Driver Licence with a safe driving history.
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Minimum 1 year relevant disability support experience.
- 100 points of identification.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including sleepover shifts.
Desirable Qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Medication Administration competency/accreditation.
- Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours and high-support needs.
Employment Conditions
- Casual positions available.
- Pay rate aligned with the SCHADS Award (minimum Level 2.3), with higher rates available based on qualifications and experience.
- Superannuation, WorkCover, QLeave, and all applicable employee entitlements provided.
- Variety of shifts available, including SIL sleepover shifts.
