About The Role Starting Salary - $121,069 + Super, Overtime and On-Call (including a 9-day fortnight) as you work through the relevant skills training and qualifications, you will progress through the REM and Classification Framework accordingly TasNetworks is looking for a reliable and safety-focused Distribution Operator to help operate our electrical reticulation system and support System Operations in day-to-day and emergency situations. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, secure, and high-quality power supply to our customers. You will be responsible for performing both planned and unplanned switching across the network, monitoring system performance, and responding to faults and outages — including during adverse weather and after hours as part of an on-call roster.
You'll also assist with isolations and restorations, coordinate substation and underground feeder faults, and manage contractors on-site. As an emerging Distribution Operator, you’ll get paid to perform the role, whilst working towards relevant authorisations and qualifications! Initially you will focus on gaining a complete understanding of the network and working through your training, at a pace that is tailored to you.
About You To be successful in this role you will be a trade qualified Electrician (Certificate III in Electrotechnology) and hold a valid Tasmanian Electrical Practitioners Licence. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating their ability to make critical decisions in a rapidly changing environment, ensuring safety is at the forefront of the decision, along with achieving results. This, combined with your ability to work in small teams and manage your time effectively will set you up for success and capability to adapt to shifts in work priorities.
You will possess clear and concise communication, as you'll be expected to manage customer expectations around timeframes and solutions. As part of the Distribution Operator role, you will be required to scope and manage maintenance and inspection activities.
