Drill Fitters – Underground Maintenance
7/7 Roster | Permanent Full Time

Broken Hill Mines is seeking skilled Underground Drill Fitters to join our Maintenance team, providing reliable and safe maintenance support for underground drilling equipment at Rasp Mine, Broken Hill.
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out high-quality preventative and corrective maintenance on underground drilling equipment, ensuring assets remain safe, reliable, and fit for purpose while meeting safety, environmental, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics, strip-downs and rebuilds on underground drilling equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and fault finding on production and development drill rigs.
- Complete statutory mechanical inspections in line with site and legislative requirements.
- Identify, report and rectify equipment defects and damage.
- Contribute to preventative maintenance programs, shutdowns and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Accurately record work orders, parts usage and maintenance history in Pronto.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping underground and on surface.
- Participate in pre-starts, safety interactions, handovers and shift meetings.
- Actively support WHS initiatives, hazard reporting and compliance with site procedures.
- Work collaboratively with production and mining teams to minimise equipment downtime and support operational targets.
About You
- Relevant Australian Mechanical Trade qualification (Fitter / Diesel / Heavy Vehicle or similar).
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence (manual).
- Experience maintaining underground drill rigs highly regarded.
- Strong safety focus and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an underground environment.
- Ability to pass pre-employment medicals, includinglead monitoring requirements.
- Full Australian work rights.

The Rasp Mine is an operating silver-lead-zinc mine in Broken Hill, with a large Mineral Resource and a 750,000tpa processing plant. The mine has operated for over 120 years, producing zinc and lead concentrates sold globally. The Pinnacles Mine, situated 15km southwest of Broken Hill, is known for containing one of the area's highest-grade and shallowest silver-zinc-lead deposits. Despite being largely undeveloped, small-scale historical mining has occurred over the past 120 years.
Broken Hill Mines has recently acquired the Rasp Mine and secured a Joint Venture option for the Pinnacles Mine to consolidate the two operations and create a leading and long-term base metals operation.
