Experienced Senior Electronic Engineer specialising in the design, integration, testing, and operation of complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems supporting space telescopes, laser systems, and space-based applications. Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams to deliver precision-engineered solutions for space observation, tracking, and laser-based systems, supporting full lifecycle activities from concept through to deployment and operation.
Skilled in technical documentation, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis, with a track record of delivering reliable systems for mission-critical space and observatory operations.
Primary Duties
- Responsible for the design, integration, testing, and maintenance of electronic systems supporting space telescopes and laser technologies, ensuring reliable operation through system verification, multidisciplinary collaboration, and effective technical problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic and electro-mechanical systems for space telescope and laser applications
- Manage system integration, verification, and validation of precision space and observatory systems
- Support the full project lifecycle from concept development through to deployment and operational maintenance
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, optical, and systems engineering teams
- Conduct troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis of complex electronic and laser-based systems
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, reports, and engineering records
- Support laboratory and observatory-based testing, including performance validation and data analysis
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, standards, and system reliability
Experience
- Designed, integrated, and tested electronic subsystems for space telescope and laser system projects, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and safety requirements
- Developed and maintained instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, data acquisition systems, embedded processors, and communication interfaces for space observation applications
- Worked collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to deliver advanced observatory and space-based systems from concept through to operational deployment
- Performed system integration, verification, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis to support successful delivery of space and laser technologies
- Supported laboratory and observatory testing programs, including data collection, analysis, reporting, and validation of system performance
- Produced detailed technical documentation, including design reports, test procedures, verification plans, and operational guidelines
- Contributed to the development of advanced sensing, tracking, and monitoring solutions using electronics, control systems, and signal processing for space awareness
- Assisted in maintaining and improving engineering processes, standards, and technical capability within high-technology project teams
