Construction Estimator – Melbourne, VICJob Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Estimator to join our growing Melbourne team. This full time position is ideal for someone with a strong background in construction estimating who is passionate about delivering accurate cost estimates and contributing to the successful delivery of commercial, residential, or civil construction projects.

Working closely with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients, you will play a key role in preparing competitive tenders while ensuring projects are delivered within budget.

Responsibilities

- Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for construction projects.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
- Complete quantity take-offs and material calculations.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare detailed budgets, pricing schedules, and cost reports.
- Analyse project costs, risks, and opportunities.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
- Assist with project handovers to the construction team.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and cost databases.
- Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and within required timeframes.

Skills & Experience





- Previous experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar estimating role.
- Strong understanding of Australian construction practices and building standards.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with estimating software such as CostX, Cubit, Buildxact, Bluebeam, or similar is highly regarded.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
