As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Civil Plant Operator with strong excavator and skid steer capability to join our team.

About the Role

As one of our Civil Plant Operators, you will work as part of an experienced project team across a variety of civil construction sites throughout metropolitan and regional South Australia. This is a hands-on position. Our operators are an important part of the overall crew and must be willing and able to work both on and off the machine.

You will be responsible for operating Civil Tech’s plant safely and efficiently, undertaking a range of civil construction activities and contributing to a safe, productive and well-presented worksite.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely and efficiently operate excavators, skid steers and other civil construction plant
- Undertake detailed excavation, trenching, drainage, earthworks, site preparation and general civil works
- Work safely around underground and overhead services
- Complete daily pre-start inspections and report plant faults or maintenance requirements
- Take responsibility for the care, cleanliness and security of the equipment you operate
- Work closely with Site Supervisors, Leading Hands and other members of the civil crew
- Assist with general civil construction activities when plant operation is not required
- Follow project plans, site instructions, Safe Work Method Statements,



environmental controls and Civil Tech procedures
- Contribute to the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of Civil Tech’s projects
- Maintain a safe, productive and well-presented worksite

About You

You are an experienced and capable plant operator who understands that good operating involves more than simply moving material. You can read the site, work safely around people and services, protect the equipment entrusted to you and contribute positively to the performance of the entire crew.

You take pride in the quality of your work, look after your equipment and are willing to assist with general civil construction activities when you are not required on the machine.

You are practical, reliable and team-focused, and you can follow instructions while also using sound judgement on site.

Skills and Experience

Essential

- Demonstrated plant-operating experience within the civil construction industry
- Proven experience operating excavators and/or skid steers
- Current Driver’s Licence and reliable transport
- Current White Card
- Relevant plant competencies, tickets or Verification of Competency
- Solid understanding of safe plant operation and working around services
- Ability to complete plant inspections and identify potential faults
- Willingness and ability to work both on and off plant
- Reliable, practical and team-focused approach
- Pride in the quality of your work and the equipment entrusted to you
- Ability to follow instructions and use sound judgement on site

Experience in stormwater drainage, road construction, detailed excavation, final trim, structures, streetscapes or local government projects will be highly regarded.

- Truck Licence
- Work Zone Traffic Management
- First Aid
- Additional plant competencies
- Experience reading construction plans and identifying levels
- Experience using machine-control systems




- Experience operating a variety of civil construction plant and machinery
