Role summary
Our Software Engineers contribute to the cutting edge of mobile racing games. This role builds, tests, and optimizes game features, tools, and technology, ensuring for an engaging and smooth experience for both our developers, and our players. Software Engineers work closely with our game team, including Producers, Designers, and Artists.
As part of this role, you’ll work extensively with Unreal Engine (UE5) to develop high-performance game systems and visually rich gaming experiences. You’ll be responsible for implementing gameplay features using both Blueprints and C++, optimizing performance for mobile platforms, and leveraging and extending UE’s robust toolset, and in-house tools to bring our creative vision to life.
Role Responsibilities
- Game Development: Design, architect, and implement gameplay features and tools.
- Bug Fixing: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and performance issues to ensure a seamless player experience.
- Collaboration: Work closely with all disciplines (Including: Production, Design, Art, Animation, QA, Engineering) to integrate game assets, features and tools,
ensuring alignment with the game’s vision and goals.
- Planning: Actively participate in the production processes for planning and tracking tasks. Design/Architect technical designs for other engineers to implement.
- Mentor: Work with the engineering team to champion, guide, and support design and implementation of tools and features. Provide cross discipline support and education on best practices for in engine asset integration. Empower all disciplines with workflow tooling improvements, support, and education.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Testing and Optimization: Drive testing and optimization efforts to enhance game performance and stability on various mobile devices.
- Learning and Growth: Continuously learn, apply and share new technologies, tools, and techniques to improve your skills and contribute to the team’s success.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of C++.
- Proven experience working with Unreal Engine (UE5) including Blueprints and C++ integration.
- Strong understanding of 3D mathematics and it’s use in games.
- A willingness to work in all areas of game development.
- Experience with multi-threading and asynchronous programming patterns.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in debugging and optimizing code.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- A genuine interest in video games, particularly racing games, and an understanding of gaming mechanics and player engagement.
Bonus Points
- Experience optimizing games for Mobile hardware.
- Experience working on Racing Titles.
- Experience in Unreal Engine.
- High level of experience in one or more key game development areas (Physics, AI, Client-Server architecture/replication, Online backend)
- Experience building tools to support continuous development in a live service environment
