Key Information
- Full time role : Monday- Friday or Tuesday- Saturday roster. Part time will be considered (0.6 FTE).
- Working hours span from 8.00 am to 5.45 pm.
- No Sundays,late nights or Public Holidays.
- Locations: ACO Wyndham, Braybrook, Carlton clinics.
- Salary:$63,852.00 - $76,512.00 (including superannuation) + salary packaging perks.
About the Role
As a crucial member of our clinical team, our Optical Dispensers play a key role in delivering high-quality care to our patients by supporting optometrists and ensuring each patient receives tailored advice and expert assistance with their eyewear needs. This position requires an experienced dispenser to be trained across all our patient services functions at our Wyndham, Braybrook and Carlton locations.
Candidates who hold a full driving licence are preferred as the role requires travel to ACO satellite locations, use of a fleet car is provided where available.
This position offers a relative level of autonomy and responsibility, with a strong focus on dispensing, customer care, and efficiency. You’ll work closely with patients to provide personalised frame and lens recommendations, manage orders, and ensure all optical products meet the highest standards—helping maximise patient outcomes and satisfaction. A part-time position (3 days per week) will also be considered.
Accountabilities
- Provide exceptional customer care to patients.
- Explain all current fees and patient financial responsibility and inform patient of payment.
- Provide advice to patients regarding products
- Assist patients with selection of frames and other dispensary services.
- Verify exactness of finished lenses and spectacles ensuring they meet required standards.
- Maintain patient records to ACO standard.
- Willingness to cover other sites as required.
About You
As an experienced optical dispenser with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care, you thrive in a clinical environment, working collaboratively with optometrists and clinical teams to ensure every patient receives eyewear solutions that are tailored to the individual.
You have a strong understanding of optical products, lens technology, and frame fitting, and you take pride in guiding patients through their options with clarity and empathy. With excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality, you ensure all prescriptions are dispensed accurately and meet individual needs. You will be motivated by providing outstanding customer service and making a real contribution to patient’s vision health. Teamwork is key within our clinics; you will be a team player supporting the overall goal of clinical excellence across our clinics.
Skills and Knowledge
- A passion for and experienced in providing exceptional customer service.
- Demonstratedunderstanding of optical products, lens technology, and frame fitting.
- A flexible attitude, be reliable and comfortable working in a team environment.
- A second language may be an advantage.
- Experienced in patient management software.
- Previous optical dispensing experience is required for this role.
- Motivated to serve the community and people experiencing disadvantage.
Desired criteria
- Cert IV in optical dispensing or a willingness to obtain.
- Experience in working for a not for profit, or public health organisation will be well regarded.
