About The Role
As a Factual Investigator, you will support the effective management of motor and property insurance claims through field-based investigations. Working within the Fraud & Intelligence team, you will attend scenes, engage with customers and stakeholders, gather evidence and provide objective findings that support claim determination, liability assessment and recovery opportunities. Your work will help identify fraud indicators, clarify claim circumstances and deliver accurate, defensible outcomes while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience, safety and compliance.
What You'll Do
- Conduct on-site and field-based investigations, including scene inspections, interviews and evidence collection.
- Gather, preserve and document physical and digital evidence accurately and securely.
- Interview claimants, witnesses and third parties using fair and effective questioning techniques.
- Prepare transparent, evidence-based reports that support claims decisions, recoveries and dispute resolution processes.
- Assess information against policy requirements, liability considerations and fraud indicators.
- Collaborate with claims teams, assessors, repairers and external stakeholders to progress investigations.
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrated experience conducting field based factual investigations (motor and/or property), including scene attendance, evidence collection and documentation.
- Experience interviewing claimants, witnesses and third parties, and preparing clear, objective and evidence-based statements and investigation reports.
- Proven ability to identify indicators of potential fraud or non-disclosure and escalate appropriately within claims, compliance and governance frameworks.
- Strong experience operating within insurance claims environments, applying policy interpretation, liability and recovery principles to support defensible outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience managing difficult, sensitive or emotionally charged customer interactions, including effective de-escalation and vulnerability awareness.
- Experience working in on road or field based roles, with a strong understanding of safety, environmental, travel and situational risk considerations.
- Current driver’s licence and ability to safely operate in metro, regional and interstate travel environments where required.
