Position Overview

The Family Connection and Support Officer within the Partners in Foster Care program plays a vital role in supporting children and young people under 18 years of age who are under the custody or guardianship of the Chief Executive. This position focuses on those who have yet to be placed with approved family carers or who could benefit from strengthened family connections. Key responsibilities include identifying and engaging family members, supporting informed decision-making regarding kin care options, and facilitating secure connections between children and their families.



The role is instrumental in improving outcomes for children by promoting family-based care arrangements.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about supporting families and children in the child protection system. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Diploma or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Social Work, or a related field
- First Aid and CPR Certificates or ability to acquire
- Experience in Child Protection or Human Services
- Solid understanding of the Child Protection Act and relevant legislation
- Proficient in time management and IT skills to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines

The successful candidate will demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity, particularly towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Flexibility to adjust working hours to meet client needs is essential.
