Field Officers to commence Friday 7th August, based out of Canning Vale
Your new company A state government department based in Canning Vale, is seeking candidates to consider for their Biosecurity team, in response to an outbreak of the Queensland Fruit Fly in Perth.
These roles are offered on temporary contracts, working full-time hours Monday to Friday. This role will offer a paid 4-hour induction.
Your new role
As the Field Officer, you will be responsible for travelling to sites across the Perth metro area including nurseries, farms, residential properties, and public parks, to assist with the research and prevention surrounding the Queensland Fruit Fly (QFLY). Your role will include supporting the public with general queries around the nature of the work, as well as ad hoc tasks to support the wider logistics team.
Duties will include
- Visiting properties in a specified area to understand if they have fruit trees/ plants on their property
- Providing advice to members of the public in response to the operation and how it affects them
- Using natural chemicals to bait certain areas
- Deploying lures to assist research teams on the current state of QFLY
- Data entry
8-hour shifts will vary from 7am - 8pm and applicants must be able to attend all shift rotations.
What you'll need to succeed In order to be considered, you will need:
- WA Driving Licence
- Police Clearance dated within 6 months (Hays can request this for you)
- Excellent people skills with confidence in interacting with members of the public
- Ability to drive around for long hours, as well as work outside in hot or rainy conditions
- A background/interest in environmental science, horticulture or closely related fields, is highly desired
- Full time availability (part-time will not be considered)
In addition to the above, you must also be able to provide the details for two employer references, with at least one being from the last 12 months.
