Boom is currently seeking a highly organised and efficient Finance Business Partner to join our East Coast business, based at Eagle Farm on a full-time, on-site basis. Reporting to the Financial Controller and with regular access to a dynamic CFO, this role is a critical conduit between finance and operations. This is an influential position supporting operational leaders to improve profitability and business performance.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Deliver accurate and timely monthly reporting for 8 operational depots across Qld and NSW:

- Profit and loss: including management of inter-company process, revenue accruals, salary and other cost accruals.
- Balance Sheet – including management of asset register, accruals, debtors and creditors and management of purchase order process.

- Partner with the General Manager – East and Business Managers to provide transactional data and analysis to support decision making.
- Support pricing activities, quote reviews, and rate reviews to assess and maintain contract profitability.
- Assist with preparation of business cases to support capital expenditure.
- Understand the relevant Enterprise Agreements in the region and maintain labour cost modelling to evaluate profitability of contracts.




- Work with Business Managers to gather operational inputs for the annual budget and quarterly forecast process.
- Assess the financial impacts of business improvement initiatives and opportunities. Support the execution of the initiatives and provide regular communication on outcomes.
- Understand the Purchase-to-Pay process and work with the team to improve support office functions.
- Provide structured and ad-hoc to support Business Managers – be their trusted advisor and problem solver.
- On an “as required” basis, plan and lead business change projects and take specialist roles within projects lead by other sections / leaders. This may include writing or reviewing commercial papers and Board papers.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

Required

- Degree qualified in Accounting, Business or Commerce discipline.
- Professional qualification (CPA/CA).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Business Partnering or Management Accountant role within an operational environment.
- Advanced Excel capability, including the ability to manipulate and analyse large data sets using pivot tables, lookup formulas and related analytical tools.
- Proven background in commercial decision support within an operational workplace.
- Ability to liaise effectively across all levels of the business.




- Ability to influence operational stakeholders.
- Deadline-driven with ability to deliver focused outcomes within often tight timeframes.
- Financial modelling and analysis skills combined with an ability to dig into the numbers and understand key operational drivers.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- A preparedness to take the initiative, a strong desire to achieve results whilst demonstrating a strong professional work ethic.
- The ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a highly interactive and cross-dependent team.
- Some travel to depots may be required.

Desirable

- Experience in industrial services, contracting, mining services or asset hire business.
- Experience using D365 Business Central or other contemporary ERP.
- Power BI experience, including dashboard development, data visualisation or reporting automation.
- Strong Microsoft 365 capability, including Excel, SharePoint and related collaboration tools.
