House of Paint is an Australian manufacturer of water-based colours and pigment dispersants, based in Dandenong South. Our products include architectural paints, mulch colorants, machine-based tinters, custom colours and turf line-marking systems — all formulated and tested in our in-house laboratory.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Chemist to plan, organise and handle our laboratory activities, working closely with our production and management teams to keep quality, safety and turnaround on track. You'll coordinate R&D;, support production scheduling, and help maintain a clean, protected and efficient lab environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand lab procedures and requirements, and coordinate production activities efficiently and on time
- Coordinate R&D; activities with the Manager and follow instructions
- Understand customer orders to help prioritise and meet production schedules
- Coordinate production activities with factory-hand and managing staff
- Ensure production and lab activities meet quality control and OH&S; requirements
- Maintain a clean, safe laboratory in line with Australian OH&S; standards
- Report any damage, accidents, unsafe equipment or activities to management immediately
- Build knowledge library of company products, manufacturing processes, lab equipment and customer service requirements
What We're Looking For
- Experience working in a lab
- Solid understanding of lab procedures, quality control and manufacturing processes (paint/coatings experience highly regarded)
- Experience working with paint is desirable
- Strong teamwork, reliability and communication — able to work cooperatively across the factory floor and management
- Good initiative and problem-solving skills
- Well organised, with the ability to plan and document SOPs
- Commitment to safe work practices and OH&S; compliance
