About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to join a boutique construction and design company based in Perth. Since the compant's formation, they have grown their steadily, with a stong pipeline of business. The have a great culture and working environment, which has resulted in cohesive team environment.

The role will report into the Company Directors and will oversee the company's financial operations while actively managing the day-to-day bookkeeping function. This is a key position within an SME, requiring someone who is equally comfortable working strategically with the Directors as they are processing transactions and ensuring accurate financial records.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the business, providing timely financial reporting, managing cash flow, and supporting commercial decision-making. As part of a lean finance team, this role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who is willing to work across both operational and financial management activities. Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Produce annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations to the Directors.
- Monitor key financial metrics and business performance.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory obligations.
- Manage year-end financial reporting and coordinate external audits where required.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks and other financial stakeholders.





Bookkeeping & Transaction Processing

- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Complete bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations.
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with payroll legislation.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, GST, PAYG and other statutory returns.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
- Manage expense claims and company credit cards.
- Ensure accurate financial record keeping and document management.

Cash Flow & Treasury

- Monitor daily cash flow and working capital.
- Manage debtor collections and creditor payments.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts.
- Assist Directors with funding and banking requirements.

Compliance & Controls

- Maintain effective financial controls and internal processes.
- Ensure compliance with taxation and regulatory requirements.
- Review financial systems and recommend process improvements.
- Develop and document finance procedures.

Business Support

- Provide financial insights to support business planning and operational decisions.
- Assist with pricing, profitability analysis and cost control initiatives.
- Support Directors with strategic projects and financial modelling.




- Contribute to continuous improvement across finance and administration functions.

Skills & Experience:

- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- CPA or CA qualified (or working towards qualification).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar finance role within an SME.
- Strong bookkeeping and financial accounting experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax compliance.
- Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
