Financial Planning and Analysis Team Leader Lead Council’s long-term financial planning, budgeting and forecasting functions, shaping strategic financial outcomes across the organisation.

Full-time opportunity with a 35-hour week, rostered days off and access to Fitness Passport.

Salary from $133,541.83 - $149,475.09 per annum plus 12% Superannuation. As the Financial Planning and Analysis Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Council's long-term financial sustainability through strategic planning, insightful analysis and trusted financial advice.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead Council's financial planning and analysis function, overseeing annual budgets, long-term financial planning, forecasting and business partnering activities. You will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, managers and budget owners to provide meaningful financial insights that support informed decision-making and responsible stewardship of Council resources. About the Role: As the Financial Planning and Analysis Team Leader, you will: Lead the development, coordination and delivery of Council's annual operating, capital and project budgets.

Lead the quarterly budget review process, ensuring accurate forecasting, stakeholder engagement and strategic financial insights.

Drive the development and annual revision of Council's Long-Term Financial Plan,



including scenario modelling and funding strategies.

Provide high-quality financial analysis, modelling and advice to support executive decision-making and organisational priorities.

Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Financial Planning and Analysis team focused on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Partner with managers and budget owners to improve financial capability, understanding and performance across Council.

Develop and enhance financial reporting, improving visibility of financial performance, risks and opportunities.

Support organisational transformation, business case development and strategic initiatives through robust financial analysis.

Lead improvements to financial systems, processes and reporting tools, including Council's corporate finance systems.

Represent Finance on project working groups and collaborate across the broader Finance team to achieve organisational objectives. What You’ll Bring: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

CA, CPA or equivalent postgraduate professional accounting qualification.

Proven experience leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis functions within a complex organisation.

Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial advice and influence Executive Leadership Teams, senior management and key stakeholders.

Strong financial modelling, analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience developing business cases and assessing financial viability.

Advanced knowledge of Australian and International Accounting Standards.

Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear and practical advice.





Demonstrated experience building productive relationships and influencing outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Advanced proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools and Microsoft Office applications.

Experience leading, mentoring and developing high-performing teams.

Desirable: Knowledge of the NSW Local Government environment and associated accounting and reporting requirements.

Experience using Technology One Finance and Asset Management systems.
