With operations based in Perth and Bunbury, we provide expert fence design, installation and maintenance services to residential, commercial and industrial clients throughout Perth, the Southwest and regional Western Australia. We are seeking an experienced Fitter (General) to join our growing team.

Position Description The Fitter (General) is responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, servicing and repair of mechanical gate systems and associated equipment used in the company's fencing operations. This hands-on role supports the delivery of high-quality automated gate and fencing solutions by ensuring all mechanical components are installed, maintained and operating safely and efficiently. The position also involves fabrication and welding of custom gate and fencing components where required to support installation and repair activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and installation plans.
- Install, assemble and commission automated sliding, swing and cantilever gate systems.
- Fit, align and adjust gate motors, drive units, rollers, tracks, guide systems, hinges and locking mechanisms.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake servicing, repairs and replacement of worn or defective components.
- Carry out preventative maintenance to maximise the reliability and performance of automated gate systems and associated equipment.
- Fabricate, modify and weld gate and fencing components where required to support installation and repair work.




- Conduct testing and final adjustments to ensure completed installations operate safely and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with installation teams to deliver projects that meet company quality requirements and Australian Standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a secure and serviceable condition.
- Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

Skills and Experience The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- Proven experience in mechanical fitting, installation, servicing or repair of automated gate systems or comparable mechanical equipment.
- Sound mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Competency in welding, fabrication and metal modification techniques.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience using a wide range of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality workmanship.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Current driver's licence.

Qualifications

Applicants should have

- A relevant trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Engineering (Mechanical), Fabrication, Metal Trades or a closely related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining and repairing automated gate systems or similar mechanical equipment.
- Practical welding and fabrication experience relevant to fencing, gates or structural steel work.
- Construction Industry White Card.
- Any relevant licences or tickets, such as Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Working at Heights or Forklift Licence, will be highly regarded.
