Food and Textiles Technology Assistant

Permanent full-time (term-time only) | Commencing Term 4, 2026

The opportunity

Suitably experienced and qualified applicants are invited to apply for a permanent full-time Student Support Assistant role in the Design and Technology Department. This position is required to work term-time only.

About the role

Displaying a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently, the Food and Textiles Technology Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day support provided to teachers within the Design and Technology Department, including preparation of materials for practical lessons and ordering of departmental supplies. Applicants must be able to work effectively in a team.

About you The successful candidate will a passion for working with students. We are looking for confident self-starters who enjoy building relationships with people, possess excellent communication skills, and can be relied upon to work autonomously. It is essential to:

· Demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to develop, contemporary practices in the food and textiles industries.

· Demonstrate competency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and general IT applications.

· Possess sound literacy and numeracy skills.

· Demonstrate highly effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.

· Be capable of working independently,



showing initiative and sound judgement while also contributing positively as a member of a collaborative team.

· Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with staff and students.

· Maintain confidentiality, professionalism and discretion in all aspects of the role.

· Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining safe, clean and well-organised learning environments and working in accordance with relevant WHS requirements.

Qualifications

· Current Food Safety training certificate

· A solid knowledge of WHS requirements is required

· Working with Vulnerable People card

· Current First Aid Certificate

· Strong organisation skills

· Ability to show initiative and problem solve

· Be reliable and punctual

· Ability to work unsupervised
