The Role
We are seeking a diligent and passionate Payroll and Onboarding Officer in this newly created position. Working as part of the Human Resources team, the successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing of weekly pays for 250 employees, onboarding new hires, maintaining payroll and employee records, ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements, and providing quality support on payroll-related matters to employees and managers across the business.
In addition, the Payroll and Onboarding Officer will support the implementation of Definitiv, our new Payroll platform for QEST.
The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday; however, we are open to negotiating shorter workdays whilst the role becomes established.
Key Activities
- Process timely and accurate weekly end to end payroll.
- Validate payroll inputs, timesheets, allowances, deductions, terminations, adjustments and leave transactions.
- Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies.
- Respond promptly to payroll-related queries for employees and people leaders.
- Process Month End payments and processes related to Payroll.
- Ensure Superannuation contributions are processed in line with legislative requirements.
- Workers Compensation payments and adjustments.
- Maintain payroll and employee records.
- Process new starts, transfers, promotions and terminations.
- Work in with the HR team to support the onboarding of new starters in the business.
- Maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
About You
Essential to be successful in this role
- Minimum 3-5 years previous payroll experience in a similar end to end role.
- Demonstrated experience with interpretation of Modern Awards.
- An in depth understanding of Australian payroll legislation and requirements
Further important skills and experience
- Previous experience processing Payroll in a diversified business, operating under various Modern Awards, with employees undertaking shift work.
- The ability to work autonomously and employ sound problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels in a business.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality in your work.
- A dynamic individual who is willing to dive in and support the business with enthusiasm and dedication.
- Previous experience implementing a new Payroll platform and establishing new payroll processing systems is advantageous.
