KazGard

Sydney

KazGard is growing, and we are looking for a capable and motivated Full-Stack Engineer to join our Sydney team.

This is a hands-on software development role for someone who is comfortable working across back-end and front-end systems, integrating AI services and maintaining business-critical applications.

You will take ownership of existing projects while contributing to the development of recent solutions across enterprise compliance, disability services, membership management and business-process automation.

What you’ll be working on

- Developing and maintaining full-stack web applications, APIs, databases and integrations
- Taking ownership of existing software projects following a structured technical handover
- Building reliable back-end services, business logic, calculations and workflow automation
- Implementing responsive front-end interfaces based on established UX/UI designs
- Translating complex business requirements, rules and edge cases into maintainable software
- Integrating AI and large language model services into practical business applications
- Improving AI-generated outputs for relevance, accuracy, consistency and reduced duplication
- Developing document-processing, contextual retrieval and structured-output capabilities
- Integrating applications with third-party APIs, webhooks and enterprise systems
- Supporting testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting and production releases
- Maintaining clear technical documentation, README files, architecture notes and deployment instructions
- Collaborating with software engineers, IT, project management, UX/UI and client stakeholders

What we’re looking for You are a practical software engineer who can work confidently across the application stack. Your strongest capabilities may be in back-end development, but you are also comfortable implementing and maintaining front-end functionality.

Our products require dependable interfaces, well-structured workflows and strong integration between the front end, back end and supporting services.

You will ideally have

- 3+ Years Full-stack experience. Strong professional experience across the stack, including reading into an unfamiliar codebase quickly and taking ownership of ongoing development rather than working ticket-to-ticket.
- TypeScript.

Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript as your primary working language, with the debugging and problem-solving skills to trace an issue through an unfamiliar layer of the stack. Python is a bonus.
- Back end - Express.js or NestJS. Solid back-end skills: designing and maintaining REST APIs, data models, authentication and third-party integrations. Comfortable implementing business logic with genuine complexity — layered conditional rules, calculations and the edge cases that come with them.
- Front end - React or Next.js. Able to build responsive, accessible interfaces from established designs using React, Next.js or an equivalent up-to-date framework.
- Databases - MongoDB. Hands-on experience with non-relational databases and designing structured data models within them. Relational databases and SQL are a bonus.
- AWS. Practical experience deploying and running applications in AWS, along with source control, CI/CD and production release processes.
- AI / LLM integration. Experience integrating AI or LLM services via API, and a working understanding of prompt design, contextual retrieval (RAG), structured outputs and evaluating AI-generated results.
- Quality and documentation. A practical approach to automated testing and software quality, and the discipline to document decisions so the next person can follow them.
- How you work. A clear communicator who can explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders, and proactive, collaborative and accountable in your approach.

Security is important to us Our applications may process confidential, financial, operational and personal information. You should therefore understand secure software-development principles, including:

- Authentication and role-based access control
- Secure API design
- Data privacy and appropriate handling of sensitive information
- Encryption in transit and at rest

- Secrets and credential management
- Logging and auditability
- Dependency and vulnerability management
- Secure cloud configuration
- Backup, recovery and incident-response fundamentals

Deep cybersecurity specialisation is not required, but security awareness must be part of how you design, develop and review software.

Highly regarded

Experience in any of the following areas is not essential but would be advantageous:

- Enterprise compliance, audit or governance platforms
- NDIS, disability services or health-related technology
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation, embeddings or vector databases
- MCP integrations
- Authentication technologies – OAuth, SSO, or equivalent
- Multi-tenant SaaS applications
- Workflow, case-management or approval systems
- Automated QA and AI-evaluation frameworks
- Accessibility standards, including WCAG
- Cybersecurity or secure cloud architecture
- Familiarity with OWASP/ISO/NIST best practices
- Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate
- Microsoft 365 integrations

Why join KazGard ?

- Work on practical software and AI solutions used by real organisations
- Take meaningful ownership of products rather than working on isolated development tasks
- Contribute across the full application lifecycle, from requirements to production
- Work directly with a multidisciplinary team across engineering, IT, UX/UI and project management
- Solve technically interesting problems involving AI, automation, documents and complex workflows
- Help shape our software-development, testing and security practices
- Join a growing Sydney-based organisation with opportunities to expand your responsibilities

Ready to join us? We are looking for someone based in Sydney who is technically capable, energetic and ready to contribute across multiple products and projects.

Please send your CV and a brief cover letter outlining:

- Your full-stack development experience
- A technically complex application or workflow you have developed
- Your experience integrating APIs and AI services
- An example of an existing product or codebase you have successfully taken ownership of

Join KazGard and help us build secure, reliable and effective software solutions for complex real-world challenges.
