Wagga Wagga City Council’s Parks Operations team are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for the care and maintenance of gardens and landscapes, enjoys working outdoors and is looking for an active and hands on role. Temporary full time position – Six (6) Month Term Contract.

Remuneration package of $2,267.62 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%).

Access to Council’s Nine (9) Day Fortnight Arrangement.

Please note: Rates of pay for all Council employees aged between 15-18 years of age are paid in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023, Clause 32. Junior and Trainee Employment. For further information, please see Council’s Junior Rates of Pay Fact Sheet.

This Position Will Be Responsible To

Undertake gardening duties including establishment and maintenance of gardens and lawns; planting; pruning; mowing; tree maintenance; whipper snipping; weeding; irrigation; soil and sediment control; rehabilitation works; chemical application; pest/disease control; maintenance of facilities.

Utilise and maintain small items of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power) and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE/C) in accordance with Council standards.

Complete documentation relevant to the role e.g. standard forms, site safety documentation etc.

As The Successful

Applicant, You Will Have The Following Class C Driver’s Licence.





General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).

Qualification relevant to the role e.g. Certificate II Horticulture (Desirable).

A genuine interest in the presentation of the City’s parks and reserves and a strong focus on Work Health and Safety is essential to the role. In accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation, the successful applicant is required to be vaccinated for Hepatitis B and will be asked to provide evidence of this. What is next?
