Business Development Consultant - Professional Services

On-group Australia is a People & Culture, Recruitment, and Customer Experience consultancy helping founder-led SMEs access senior-level expertise without enterprise overheads. We work as an embedded partner to growing businesses across Australia, covering fractional HR advisory, recruitment, and call quality/CX coaching.

About the role

We're growing and looking for a Business Development Manager to own current client acquisition across our service lines. You'll be speaking directly with founders, CEOs, and operations leaders about the commercial risk of getting people and customer experience wrong. Translating that into signed engagements.

This is a full-time, salaried role with genuine autonomy, direct access to the founder, and real input into how we go to market.

What you'll do

- Build and manage a pipeline of SME founders and leadership teams across target sectors
- Run a consultative sales process diagnosing risk (compliance exposure, turnover, CX quality) and positioning the right service




- Convert inbound and outbound leads into signed retainers, project scopes, and coaching subscriptions
- Partner with the founder on proposal development and pricing
- Drive outreach via LinkedIn, networking, and industry events
- Participate in some of the consulting sessions with our valued clients

What you'll bring

- 3+ years in B2B services sales, ideally SME or mid-market
- Comfortable with consultative, longer-cycle selling rather than transactional
- Strong commercial instincts — can talk risk and ROI, not just features
- Self-starter, comfortable working autonomously in a small firm
- Bonus: experience selling HR, recruitment, or CX/QA services
