Do you want to do meaningful design work that reaches real communities across North Queensland? This is your chance to join a long-term government contract delivering impactful visual communications from Cairns.
THE ROLE
Talent Street is partnering with a Queensland state government organisation to find an experienced Graphic Designer for a contract role based in Cairns, QLD. This is an office-based position with adaptable work arrangements available to negotiate after an initial probation period. The contract runs until the end of June 2027, with two further 12-month extensions on offer — giving you genuine long-term stability.
You'll be producing high-quality creative work across print, digital, video and social media to support a regional stakeholder and community engagement programme, working alongside executives, multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Developing and delivering creative design solutions aligned to strategic regional objectives
- Designing and producing a broad range of materials including brochures, newsletters, publications, presentations, maps, digital and print advertisements, and social media content
- Editing and producing video content and motion graphics
- Providing expert visual design and digital communications advice to regional executives and internal stakeholders
- Managing workflow and competing project priorities using project management tools
- Liaising with external suppliers such as printers, photographers, videographers and animators
- Ensuring all deliverables meet brand guidelines, accessibility standards and budget requirements
- Collaborating with design teams across the department to maintain consistency and share knowledge
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite — Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-calibre creative work for large corporate or government organisations
- Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), including accessible PDF and Word document creation
- Excellent time management, attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects under pressure
- Experience working within corporate branding and style guidelines
NICE TO HAVE
- Minimum five years' experience in graphic design, digital or visual communications
- Tertiary qualification in Graphic Design or a related discipline
- Familiarity with Queensland Government processes and policies
