As the AO5 Graphic Designer, you will:
- Develop and deliver high-quality creative design solutions that support strategic communication and stakeholder engagement objectives.
- Provide expert advice on visual design, branding, digital communications and whole-of-government requirements to executives and stakeholders.
- Translate complex information into engaging visual content that effectively communicates key messages to diverse audiences.
- Design and produce a wide range of communication materials, including videos, brochures, newsletters, publications, social media assets, presentations, displays, maps and digital or print advertising.
- Build strong relationships with internal clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure communication objectives are understood and achieved.
- Manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining accurate workflow tracking and meeting deadlines.
- Apply accessibility principles and customer-focused design practices to deliver high-quality, compliant communication materials.
- Coordinate external suppliers including printers, photographers, videographers, illustrators and animators to ensure quality outcomes and brand consistency.
- Stay informed on emerging design, digital communication and creative technology trends.
- Provide technical support and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, standards and services.
- Collaborate with graphic design teams across the Department to promote consistency, knowledge sharing and best practice.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience creating high-quality visual communication materials within a corporate, government or similarly complex environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
- Solid graphic design, visual communication and digital content creation capabilities.
- Experience working within established corporate branding and style guidelines.
- Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), including the creation of accessible PDFs and Microsoft Word documents.
- Ability to develop innovative and contemporary design solutions for complex communication challenges.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Solid organisational, project management and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
Desirable
- Minimum five years' experience in graphic design, visual communication, digital design or related creative disciplines.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Knowledge of Queensland Government policies, processes and communication requirements.

The North Queensland
Region's Communication and Stakeholder Management team plays a critical role in engaging stakeholders and communities through innovative, accessible and strategically aligned communications.
- 9-month contract from September 2026 - June 2027.
- Hourly pay rate between $69-$75.
- AO5-level opportunity within a respected Queensland Government organisation.
