What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive scuba diving courses for beginners and advanced divers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to various learning styles and skill levels, fostering an inclusive environment for all participants.
- Lead guided dives, showcasing the rich marine biodiversity of Eleuthera while educating divers about local ecosystems and conservation efforts.
- Maintain and inspect diving equipment to ensure it meets safety standards and is in excellent working condition for all users.
- Provide personalized feedback and support to students, helping them to improve their skills and confidence in the water.
- Organize and participate in dive trips and excursions, promoting teamwork and camaraderie among divers.
- Stay updated on the latest diving techniques, safety regulations, and industry trends to enhance your teaching methods and dive experiences.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to create a positive and supportive working environment that prioritizes safety and enjoyment.
- Engage with the local community to promote scuba diving and marine conservation initiatives, fostering a sense of stewardship for the ocean.
- Assist in marketing efforts by sharing your diving experiences and insights through social media and other platforms, helping to attract new clients.
- Participate in ongoing career development opportunities to further enhance your skills and knowledge in scuba education.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and certifications, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with industry standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in scuba instruction, with a valid instructor certification from a recognized agency (e.g., PADI, SSI).
- Proven ability to teach and communicate effectively with diverse groups, including children and adults.
- Strong understanding of marine biology and ecology, with a passion for ocean conservation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students and colleagues.
- Current first aid and CPR certification, with a focus on emergency response in aquatic environments.
- Familiarity with the local marine environment of Eleuthera is a plus, along with knowledge of local dive sites and conditions.
Nice to have
- Experience in underwater photography or videography, with the ability to teach these skills to students.
- Background in marine conservation or environmental education, enhancing the educational experience for divers.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages spoken by our diverse clientele, to facilitate better communication.
