National Communication Museum

Melbourne

Build the partnerships to grow Australia's newest museum.

Full-time, 2-year contract with option to renew

Salary: up to $110,000 plus 12% superannuation

Flexible working arrangements available The National Communication Museum (NCM) is a not-for-profit museum that opened in September 2024, which explores the past, present and future technologies that connect us. Positioned between culture and industry, NCM is building a current creative technology network in Australia.

Located in Melbourne's growing arts and technology precinct, NCM has established strong foundations in exhibitions, education, partnerships and community engagement. As we enter our next phase of growth, we're expanding partnerships, strengthening our supporter community and extending our reach across Australia and internationally, in line with our strategic focus on partnerships, philanthropy, education and influence.

We're seeking an outstanding Head of Business Development and Partnerships to help shape this next chapter. The Role

More than a traditional business development role, you'll build on NCM's established partnerships, philanthropy and community support to create new opportunities that strengthen the museum's sustainability, reputation and impact.

Working closely with the Co-CEOs and Board, you'll deepen existing relationships while securing new partnerships across philanthropy, government, education, industry and the technology sector. You'll help diversify revenue, foster collaboration and expand NCM's reach and influence.

Success in this role comes from your ability to connect organisations, supporters, collaborators and communities around a shared purpose; inspiring curiosity, learning and exploration of communication,

creativity and technology.

About You

You're a strategic relationship builder with a proven ability to identify opportunities, influence stakeholders and develop partnerships that deliver lasting value.

You'll bring

Demonstrated success in business development, strategic partnerships, philanthropy or stakeholder engagement.

Exceptional communication, influencing and relationship management skills.

Experience securing sponsorship, funding or commercial partnerships.

Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking and the ability to turn ideas into outcomes.

A collaborative, proactive approach and commitment to purpose-driven organisations.

Experience in the arts, cultural, education, technology or not-for-profit sectors will be highly regarded. We also welcome applicants from government, universities and the private sector with a strong record of developing strategic partnerships and delivering sustainable growth.

Why Join NCM?

This is a rare opportunity to help shape one of Australia's newest cultural institutions during an exciting period of growth.

You'll build on strong foundations, strengthen existing relationships, create new collaborations and help expand NCM's impact across Australia and internationally.

If you're inspired by connecting organisations, communities and ideas to help shape the future of a growing cultural institution, we'd love to hear from you.
