Job Description

About the role Pitstop Truck and Tyre Repairs is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Craigieburn. We specialise in the full spectrum of truck and tyre servicing, from scheduled maintenance through to complex mechanical overhauls, and we hold ourselves to a high standard of precision and workmanship on every job. This role suits an experienced diesel mechanic who is comfortable working across a range of heavy vehicles and wants to be part of a workshop that takes quality seriously.

You will work on real trucks with real complexity, not light vehicles dressed up as diesel work. Key responsibilities

- Diagnose faults across heavy diesel engines, fuel systems, turbochargers, air brake systems, and driveline components using both hands-on inspection and computer-based diagnostic tools
- Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, differentials, steering mechanisms, and ancillary systems for inspection and repair
- Repair and replace worn or defective components, including fuel injectors, common rail systems, exhaust aftertreatment components (DPF, SCR, AdBlue), and turbo units, referencing OEM service manuals throughout

- Reassemble engines and mechanical components to manufacturer specifications following repair
- Carry out scheduled servicing including oil and filter changes, brake adjustments, lubrications, and engine tune-ups to maintain compliance and vehicle performance
- Perform post-repair testing and adjustment to confirm correct operation before vehicles are returned to service
- Inspect vehicles and assess roadworthiness, detailing required remedial work where applicable
- Maintain accurate job records and service documentation

About you

- Experience working on diesel-powered vehicles or equipment in a skilled workshop or field environment
- Competent with electronic diagnostic tools and fault-finding processes
- Sound knowledge of diesel engine systems and related mechanical components
- High attention to detail with a methodical approach to fault diagnosis and repair
- Able to manage multiple jobs concurrently and work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop
- Current driver's licence required; additional licensing may be required depending on the role
- Roadworthy certification authority desirable but not essential
