Aquatec is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Estimating Manager to lead our estimating team and drive the preparation of high quality, competitive tenders across our water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is a key leadership role for a people focused professional with strong estimating expertise (preferably in the water and wastewater sector), a commercial mindset and the ability to build team-oriented relationships across the business. Partnering closely with our Sales, Engineering, Design, Procurement and Project Delivery teams, you will play a pivotal role in securing current business, driving successful tender outcomes and supporting the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure solutions.

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Estimating Manager to lead our estimating team and drive the preparation of high quality, competitive tenders across Aquatec's diverse water and wastewater projects.
You will be a people focused leader with strong estimating experience, a commercial mindset and the ability to build collaborative relationships across the business. Partnering closely with our Sales, Engineering, Design, Procurement and Project Delivery teams, you will play a key role in securing new business, driving successful tender outcomes and supporting the successful delivery of projects.
As Estimating Manager,
you will lead and mentor the estimating team while continuously improving estimating systems, processes and methodologies. You will ensure estimates are accurate, commercially sound and aligned with client requirements, company objectives and profitability targets, helping position Aquatec for continued growth.
You will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Leading, mentoring and developing the estimating team to deliver high quality outcomes.
Managing the end to end estimating and tendering process for major projects.
Preparing, reviewing and approving detailed project estimates and tender submissions.
Analysing project specifications, drawings and scope documents to develop accurate and commercially competitive pricing.
Collaborating with Sales, Engineering, Design, Procurement and Project Delivery teams to develop winning tender submissions.
Managing estimating schedules and workloads to ensure project deadlines are consistently achieved.
Developing pricing strategies that improve bid competitiveness while maintaining profitability.
Building and maintaining estimating frameworks, templates, processes and best practices.
Maintaining historical cost databases and benchmarking information to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
Monitoring supplier pricing, market trends and industry developments.
Identifying project risks and incorporating appropriate contingencies into estimates.
Analysing estimated versus actual project costs and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Preparing estimating performance reports and providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Building strong relationships with suppliers,
subcontractors and internal stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
Have demonstrated experience leading an estimating team within engineering, construction, manufacturing, infrastructure or a related project based industry.
Be a confident and inspiring leader who enjoys mentoring, coaching and developing others.
Possess exceptional commercial awareness with the ability to balance competitiveness and profitability.
Have strong analytical and problem solving skills with outstanding attention to detail.
Demonstrate experience preparing complex cost estimates and managing tender submissions.
Be highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
Build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Have a continuous improvement mindset and enjoy developing systems, processes and best practice methodologies.
Be confident interpreting technical documentation, project specifications and engineering drawings.
Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable working with estimating software and ERP systems.
Experience within water and wastewater, utilities, industrial manufacturing or project based engineering environments will be highly regarded.
