We're recruiting on behalf of a leading Construction subcontractor in South East Queensland. The business delivers complex projects for major builders across the region and is growing fast.
Labour is the single biggest line item in the business, and right now the recruitment effort is split across Site Foremen and the Construction Manager on top of their day jobs. This role exists to fix that one person who owns the entire trade recruitment pipeline, end to end.
This isn't an HR admin role. It's hands-on, site-present, and directly tied to project delivery.
What You'll Do
Own trade recruitment: sourcing, screening, shortlisting and placing quality tradespeople across multiple live projects. Build and maintain a pipeline so the business is never scrambling for labour.
Open current labour pools: Tier 2 crossover, Different backgrounds, international tradespeople already in Australia. Think beyond the usual job boards.
Manage labour hire: run relationships with approved providers, coordinate bookings, monitor performance and costs, and elevate when standards slip.
Build the employer brand: manage LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram with content that actually attracts tradespeople: site progress, team wins, day-in-the-life. Write and place job ads across Seek, Indeed and trade platforms. Also work with our Appointed Marketing Lead generation company.
Support the Construction Manager: workforce planning, onboarding coordination,
compliance, and whatever else needs doing to keep projects resourced.
Coordinate inductions: schedule and organise the new starter program so people hit site ready to work.
How You'll Work
Based at head office on the Gold Coast with regular site presence working directly with Site Foremen and the Construction Manager to understand project needs and assess candidates in context. The split varies with project activity, but if you're not getting on site, you're not doing the job properly.
Reports directly to the General Manager.
What You Bring
Experience in recruitment, resourcing or talent acquisition ideally in construction, trades or blue-collar industries
Strong communicator who can talk to a chippy on site and a GM in the boardroom
Ability to juggle multiple priorities without dropping any
Social media skills for business content creation, scheduling, engagement (not just posting selfies)
White Card (Construction Induction)
Bonus Points
Background in fit-out or commercial construction
Existing network of trade contacts in SEQ
Experience managing labour
How You'll Be Measured
Pipeline depth, time-to-fill, retention beyond 3 months, foreman satisfaction with candidate quality, and social media engagement that actually converts to applications. Real metrics, not vanity numbers.
