Custom Smart Homes is looking for a Senior and Junior Home Automation Programmer / Designer to help translate client needs and project requirements into reliable, intuitive technology systems for high-end recent homes.

This role suits someone who combines technical curiosity with structured thinking and clear communication. You will collaborate with clients, builders, electricians, installers and project staff through design, programming, commissioning and handover.

What you’ll do

- Assist with the design and documentation of Control4-led home-technology systems, including lighting control, networking, AV, CCTV, security and access control.
- Program, configure and test allocated automation, AV and networking components.
- Create and maintain system documentation, device schedules, commissioning records and client-facing handover material.
- Diagnose technical issues across hardware and software.
- Coordinate design intent and technical requirements with installers, electricians, builders and other project stakeholders.
- Support commissioning, client training and post-handover technical support.
- Contribute to consistent programming standards,



templates and quality checks.

What you’ll bring

- Experience in home automation, AV programming, systems integration, networked technology or a comparable technical discipline.
- Practical understanding of IP networking, device interoperability and structured troubleshooting; training will also be provided.
- Strong written documentation and communication skills.
- Care with detail, ownership of outcomes and ability to manage competing project priorities.
- Experience with Control4 or a similar platform is highly regarded.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, system-design tools or technical drawing is desirable.
- Current Australian working rights.
- Current Australian driver’s license.
