Description
Every guest room tells a story about our hotel. Every guest room reflects the care and attention behind every stay. As Housekeeping Team Leader, you'll lead by example throughout each shift—inspecting completed rooms, providing on-the-job coaching and supporting daily operations to ensure quality, efficiency and exceptional guest experiences. You'll keep the team organised, motivated and focused, ensuring every room is guest-ready and every shift runs smoothly.
Every day is different, but you'll primarily be responsible for:
Guest Experience
- Self-inspect assigned guest rooms, suites and public areas to ensure cleanliness, presentation, furnishings, equipment and linen meet brand standards and guest expectations.
- Conduct quality inspections of team members' work, provide immediate feedback, identify deficiencies and deliver on-the-job coaching or retraining where required.
- Respond promptly to guest requests, complaints and special requirements, taking appropriate corrective action to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
- Lead by example by performing housekeeping duties, including cleaning guest rooms and public areas, during peak operational periods.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through effective daily communication and collaboration with other hotel departments.
Operation
- Meet daily productivity targets as determined by Housekeeping leadership.
- Achieve a minimum daily inspection score of 90%.
- Complete and maintain all required housekeeping records accurately and on time.
- Assist with deep cleaning projects and provide operational support during periods of high occupancy.
- Maintain housekeeping supplies and equipment efficiently while minimising waste and supporting environmental sustainability initiatives
- Act as the first point of support for Housekeeping team members during your shift,
escalating operational issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Executive Housekeeper as required.
People
- Support the training and development of Housekeeping team members, ensuring they have the knowledge, tools and equipment required to perform their roles effectively.
- Monitor team productivity and quality standards, providing day-to-day guidance and escalating performance concerns to Housekeeping leadership where appropriate.
- Foster a positive, respectful and safety-focused team culture.
- Promote health and wellbeing initiatives across the Housekeeping team.

- Comply with IHG brand standards, service behaviours, hotel policies and relevant legislative requirements.
- Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by identifying hazards, reporting risks and following Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
- Support the implementation of hazard control measures to maintain a safe working workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your leaders.
What do we need from you:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in hotel housekeeping.
- Previous experience as a Housekeeping Self-Checker, Team Leader or in a similar leadership role is highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations, cleaning procedures and quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to inspect guest rooms and public areas with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide day-to-day coaching and support to colleagues.
- Ability to organise, prioritise and adapt in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
- A positive attitude with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
- Physically capable of performing housekeeping duties, including standing, bending, lifting and repetitive movements throughout a shift.
- Professional presentation and grooming standards, with pride in wearing the hotel uniform.
